In a significant step to enhance efforts against domestic violence, CEC Dr. Ruth Dama Masha and Chief Officer Ms. Agnetta Karembo participated in engagement forums organized by the State Department of Gender and Affirmative Action. The forums, led by County Director Ms. Georgina Dhulu and representatives from the Nairobi office, focused on strengthening and coordinating initiatives through the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO).
During the forums, Dr. Masha and Ms. Karembo commended the steadfast dedication of officers from various sub-locations within Kilifi, who have consistently upheld justice in domestic violence cases. They underscored the importance of ongoing grassroots programs to educate and enhance the community’s understanding of emerging gender issues.
Apart from the forums, Dr. Masha and Ms. Karembo also attended the launch of the Male Engagement and Inclusion thematic area, which has now been incorporated into the National Gender Sector Working Group. This new thematic area seeks to empower men and boys, decrease instances of perpetration, advocate for the rights of women and girls, encourage men to denounce violence, and promote a balanced approach to gender roles.
The Kilifi County Government acknowledges the significant role of inclusive community involvement and the involvement of all genders in combating domestic violence. These initiatives signify a crucial step towards establishing a safer, more just society for all Kilifi County residents.
