GBV Boda Boda Partnership

Consulting
In a pioneering endeavor to address gender-based violence (GBV), the Department of Gender has announced a strategic partnership with the Department of Roads and Public Works. This collaboration aims to empower boda boda riders as influential advocates for safety and societal transformation. The declaration was made during a Road Safety Awareness and Sensitization Meeting, attended by various stakeholders, including CEC Dr. Ruth Dama Masha.
The ongoing Linda Dada program, an initiative of the Kilifi County Government, is tailored to bolster the protection of vulnerable populations, particularly the girl child, by enlisting boda boda riders as catalysts for change in opposing GBV and supporting safeguarding efforts.
The session urged boda boda operators to address issues of substance abuse and gender equality through sports activities, fostering a sense of community safety. It underscored the importance of training operators as first responders, merging road safety with social accountability, and positioning them as pivotal figures in the fight against GBV, underscoring the significance of community involvement and interdepartmental cooperation.
