Representatives from FIDA Kenya recently conducted a courtesy visit to County Executive Committee Member (CEC) Dr. Ruth Dama Masha, marking a significant step towards the advancement of sustainable development goals (SDGs). The purpose of the visit was to participate in a monitoring and evaluation exercise of the ongoing SDG program in Kilifi, which closely aligns with the department’s initiatives.
FIDA Kenya has played a vital role in supporting various projects within the county, such as the development and review of the Kilifi Anti-Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Policy, provision of legal pro-bono services, and promotion of gender-responsive budgeting. These efforts highlight the organization’s dedication to promoting gender equality and empowering marginalized communities.
With the awaited implementation of the Anti-GBV Policy , the department looks forward to continued collaboration with FIDA Kenya. Together, they plan to establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Kilifi’s rescue centers and to empower more women in fields such as the blue economy and agri-business.
Chief Officer Ms. Agnetta Karembo, who was also present at the meeting, expressed enthusiasm for the ongoing partnership and the potential positive impact it holds for the women of Kilifi County.
