In anticipation of the forthcoming International Women’s Day on March 8th, Ganze Sub-county paid tribute to its women by organizing a pre-activity event at Matanomane. The event, graced by CEC Dr. Ruth Dama, focused on the theme “Count Her In, Invest in Women, and Accelerate Progress” for this year’s celebrations.
Government officials, including Sub-county officers, ward administrators, the area chief, representatives from the office of the MCA, Departmental officers from Gender, namely Ms. Prudence KweKwe, Ms. Mercy Manga, and Mr. Fred Khonde, as well as County Trade officials Mr. Jacob Sirya and Mr. Peter Msuko, were in attendance.
Recognizing the proactive role of women in forming groups, the Department stressed the significance of accessing government funds such as NGAAF (National Government Affirmative Action Fund) and Wezesha Funds. Presentations on various topics including GBV awareness, agricultural growth, positive parenting, and land ownership rights empowered the women participants.
In collaboration with the Trade Department, the women were informed about the application procedures for the Wezesha Funds, encouraging them to submit applications in large numbers through the sub-county offices. The event also welcomed representatives from Plan International, Maendeleo ta Wanawake and the office of the First Lady-Mama Racheal Ruto, who emphasized the importance of capacity building livelihoods and promoting economically empowered women.
The initiative undertaken by Ganze Sub-County demonstrates a dedication to uplifting and empowering women, leading the way towards tangible progress and gender equality within the community.
