In a remarkable demonstration of solidarity and determination, the women of Kilifi County gathered in large numbers to observe International Women’s Day in Mwarakaya ward, Kilifi South Sub-county. The event, graced by esteemed leaders, distinguished partners, civil society organizations, and community members, provided a significant platform to underscore their steadfast commitment to advancing progress and promoting inclusivity in society.
Aligned with this year’s theme, the women of Kilifi County reiterated their pledge to actively engage in leadership, policy formulation, decision-making, and developmental processes. Their resolute determination to instigate change and lead efforts towards gender equality was evident throughout the event.
Under the guidance of the Kilifi County Government, a strong call was made for both public and private investments in programs and services aimed at eradicating violence against women, enhancing women’s involvement in all aspects of society, cultivating a culture of financial savings and investments among women, and promoting climate action across various sectors of the economy.
The presence of distinguished guests further emphasized the significance of the occasion. Her Excellency Susanne Mung’aro, the First Lady of Kilifi County, Deputy Governor Hon.
