In preparation for International Women’s Day on March 8th, Kilifi County, Kenya is holding planning meetings. The focus of this year’s celebration is to align with the United Nations’ theme of inclusiveness and accelerating progress for women.
With this theme in mind, sub-counties in Kilifi will be organizing a variety of activities from March 1st until the grand celebration on March 8th.
A primary goal of this year’s planning efforts is to ensure that young women and girls are actively involved. Recognizing their crucial role in shaping the future, the Kilifi County Government is eager to provide a platform for them to express their opinions, concerns, and aspirations.
In addition, the department, along with stakeholders, is dedicated to promoting dialogue and involvement between different generations. Through the participation of women from various age groups, their goal is to encourage inclusive discussions on topics such as GBV, food security, and entrepreneurship that embrace diverse perspectives and experiences.
Present at the meeting were Chief Officer Ms Agnetta Karembo, Gender Director Mr Cyrillus Mwangome, a representative from the Deputy Governor’s office, gender officers, and several stakeholders.
