Kilifi County department of Gender , in partnership with the Kenya-Finland Program, Strengthening Prevention and Response to GBV, recently received a significant boost in their robust commitment to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Together, they handed over GBV Medical kits as part of the county’s intensified efforts to enhance the visibility of GBV response and strengthen capacities within existing systems and structures.
In alignment with the program’s goals, this initiative aims to improve the quality of service delivery while expanding prevention and response efforts. Specifically, the program focuses on five GBV Recovery Centres (GBVRCs) in Kilifi, Mtwapa, Malindi, Mariakani, and Bamba. The medical kits were provided to Kilifi Gender-Based Violence Recovery Centres in health facilities, demonstrating the county’s commitment to reinforcing systems alongside the Department of Health.
During the handover ceremony, attended by Chief Officer Ms. Agnetta Karembo, Director of Health Services Mr. Hassan Leli, County Coordinator of ASRH, Mr. Ken Miriti, and other county officials, Kilifi County showcased its unwavering dedication to combating GBV and promoting the well-being of its residents.
