The Kilifi County Government, represented by Mr. Cyrillus Mwangome, Director of Gender and Youth, and Madam Rose Erulu, Director of ECDE, recently participated in the launch of the Elimika Project Scholarship Fund. This initiative, led by Safe Community, aims to support 40 girls from Kilifi County by providing them with the means to access high-quality secondary education.
The main goal of the Elimika Project is to improve the availability of quality education by equipping girls and young women with essential learning materials, school uniforms, fees, and dignity kits. By ensuring that these girls are enrolled, retained, and able to progress to higher levels of education, the project aims to empower them for a better future.
The project has three primary objectives: to facilitate the enrollment of the 40 selected girls and young women in secondary education, to provide life skills training within schools, and to offer vocational skills development in tailoring, dressmaking, and baking.
During the launch event, parents and representatives from various organizations, including Sema Nami Mama, DSW-Kenya, YVIA, Red Cross, Rising winners Youth Initiative, Empowerment Initiative, Advocate, Pad A Dada Initiative, MTG, CHPF, and CFK, were present and commended their efforts, highlighting the importance of integrating sustainability measures into the program.
These measures are aimed at ensuring that parents can contribute to the girls’ education and establishing partnerships with educational institutions to effectively support the program. The ultimate goal of the Elimika Project is to create a long-lasting impact on girls’ education in Kilifi County by promoting collaboration and sustainability.
