The Directorate of Social Services participated in the distribution of 60 bee hives to support three registered farmers’ groups in Sokoke ward: Pambazuko, Kahingoni Bee Farmers, and Dida Nyuki. Mr. Fred Khonde, the Social Welfare Officer, and MCA Hon. Thaura Mweni were present to supervise the project.
The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance the livelihoods of beekeeping farmers in Sokoke ward by providing them with necessary resources. Beekeeping not only offers a sustainable source of income but also contributes to environmental conservation.
Through the provision of bee hives to local self-help groups, the Department aims to promote economic development within the community. This project highlights the significance of supporting grassroots initiatives for the sake of sustainable development.
