The Angaza Youth Initiative has taken a significant step forward in empowering adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Kilifi by launching Phase V of the #HERVoiceFund project. The project, aimed at improving HIV and sexual and reproductive health outcomes, began with an inception meeting that brought together stakeholders dedicated to advocating for the rights of AGYW.
Spanning from this year until 2026, Phase V of the #HERVoiceFund project will be implemented in Kilifi North and Magarini Sub-counties, with a focus on educating parents, teachers, and policymakers at the grassroots level. By addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by AGYW, the project aims to create a supportive environment that empowers and mentors them, ultimately reducing stigma and challenging harmful cultural beliefs.
Generously funded by The Global Fund and ViiV Healthcare, in partnership with Y+ Global, this project highlights the global commitment to improving health outcomes and rights for AGYW. The inception meeting laid the foundation for impactful interventions that will benefit the community, focusing on education, advocacy, and grassroots engagement to empower the next generation of young women leaders in Kilifi.
