Mr. Sami Gathii, the Director of YADEN East Africa, recently met with CEC Dr. Ruth Dama Masha, along with Mr. Mwangome, the Director of Gender and Youth.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the launch of the NiPi program, which aims to address PCVE in 25 counties in Kenya. This initiative is being led by a consortium consisting of YADEN East Africa, SDS Consulting, COP-K, and GIA, with guidance from NCTC. The Netherlands Government, through its embassy in Kenya, is providing generous support for this program.
NiPi’s main objective is to involve young people in grassroots communities as a way to understand the root causes of violent extremism. The initiative seeks to increase community awareness, challenge extremist narratives, and use local networks to actively engage with important target groups such as disadvantaged young men, women (particularly mothers), and individuals in vulnerable socio-economic situations. The planned launch this month will introduce a national platform focused on Peace and Security, an Opportunity Caravan that provides access to information, and a social media platform titled “Let’s Play Sing Dance and TALK,” which aims to exert positive influence through artistic expressions.
