The public consultation forum for the discussion of the Older Person’s Bill 2024 was convened earlier today with the goal of obtaining public input on solutions, opinions, and recommendations regarding the bill.
The event was graced by prominent figures, such as Chief Officer Ms Agnetta Karembo , representatives from the State Council of Social Protection, the Assistant County Commissioner of Bahari Division, the OCPD Kilifi, the County Commander, as well as delegates from civil society organizations, religious leaders, youth, village elders, chiefs, and assistant chiefs.
The forum commenced with a comprehensive presentation by Tina Mwangatana from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection , who intricately elaborated on the bill’s provisions pertaining to the empowerment and safeguarding of older individuals, with a focus on promoting and upholding their well-being, dignity, safety, security, and care. Subsequent to the presentation, the forum was opened to the public for discussion.
