In order to address drug abuse and mental health challenges in our region, a group of doctors and consultants, led by Dr. Josephine Wanjaria and Lindsey Moy, presented a proposal to establish more rehabilitation centers in Kilifi. This proposal is aimed at improving access to treatment services at the local level.
I have made a commitment to not only establish a well-equipped center in Kilifi, but also to create a Vocational Training Center (VTC) that will provide practical skills and competencies to rehabilitated drug addicts, enabling them to join the workforce.
Efforts are also being made to provide necessary resources to the existing centers in Malindi, Kilifi, and Mtwapa. I encourage all stakeholders in the public and private sectors to actively participate in addressing this issue and join us in our goal of eliminating drug abuse in Kilifi.
