SHOFCO (Shining Hope for Communities) convened a formal meeting with the County Executive Committee Member Dr. Ruth Dama Masha and Chief Officer, Ms. Agnetta Karembo to discuss their forthcoming initiative, the Investment Integrated for Vulnerable Children (IIVC) project. The meeting was attended by representatives of SHOFCO, led by founder Mr. Kennedy Odede, as well as county officials from the county’s Department.
The IIVC project aims to address critical issues affecting children in the county through three primary interventions: male engagement and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, establishing a children’s rights club, and implementing a robust case management system for child protection. SHOFCO is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of vulnerable children by creating safer environments and tackling urgent social challenges.
A central point of the conversation was SHOFCO’s proposal to provide direct support to the County through rescue centers, which offer secure sanctuaries for children who have endured abuse or neglect. Mr. Odede underscored SHOFCO’s commitment to collaborating with the county government to enhance existing systems and enhance service provision for vulnerable populations.
This partnership represents a significant advancement in establishing more robust community support systems for vulnerable children in the region.
