The Department observed a significant demonstration of unity, love, and faith at their recent event in Tezo ward, Kilifi North Sub county. Distinguished guests, including Deputy Governor Hon. Flora Mbetsa Chibule, CEC Hon. Clara Chonga on behalf of CEC Dr. Ruth Dama Masha, Chief Officer Ms. Agnetta Karembo, and various county officials, graced the occasion with their presence.
The gathering was characterized by lively discussions, with women expressing the need for increased male involvement in advocating against early teenage pregnancies and gender-based violence (GBV), particularly in protecting the rights of young girls. They highlighted the importance of empowering campaigns and emphasized the unity among women as a crucial source of support.
Women were commended for their outstanding contributions in various fields such as leadership, the blue economy, social work, media, and agriculture, demonstrating their pivotal role in advancing the community. Special attention was given to young mothers, who were encouraged to pursue educational scholarships or enroll in Vocational Training Centers to enhance their skills. Additionally, women were urged to form self-help groups and engage in sustainable livelihood activities to promote personal and professional development.
County Government officials advocated for positive parenting, self-awareness, and intergenerational dialogue, emphasizing the significance of mentorship in helping women achieve their full potential.
Partners from organizations like Kesho Kenya, Maendeleo ya Wanawake, Shofco, Sema Nami Mama, Wadadia, and Malindi Nest were also present at the event, laying a strong foundation for continued collaboration and development efforts.
